the cookies

i have never been able to make decent oatmeal raisin cookies. i've always followed the recipe, probably a different one each time. they're eric's favorite. really, the only cookie he likes to devour. and i couldn't make them.

until yesterday. yesterday, i made a batch of oatmeal raisin cookies. i followed the recipe exactly. except i added a little bit of nutmeg to the cinnamon.

they came out of the oven. they looked a little cakey, which has been my problem. i waited a few minutes while i put the next batch in. i came back to them. they looked like oatmeal cookies. exactly like them. all flat and oaty and raisiny. oh. my. goodness. i did it. and then i ate one. still warm, it was amazing. i brought one over to eric, a big grin on my face. he took a bite. and then another. then the cookie was gone. he hugged me. i jumped up and down.

who knew cookies were such a big deal?

Thanks, Helen! It was quite a day around here. We already ate them all, if you can believe it! Eric's family helped :)

Too sweet! I made pumpkin bread today and drove my mother crazy while she tried to figure out what I had changed in the recipe. :)

I've been thinking about pumpkin bread since I made zucchini bread a while ago! What did you change in the recipe? Or is it proprietary information?
