progress . process

lilacs. I hope they'll bloom.

thread.

pinned and waiting.

lilypads transformed.

so close.

the light was so nice and I was the only thing around... plus, I've been loving these earrings of late.

I finished it. Well, it still needs the big strap, but I bought that today. Joann only had enough for the two small pieces that attach to the sides.

One of the women at Haven wants me to make bags and clutches for them. I need to get faster. Does anyone know of a good pattern company for contemporary and practical bag/clutch/wallet sewing patterns. Simple too, since I'll be silkscreening the fabric. I need stuff to practice on.

I really like sewing.

What do you think?

most of my shibori pieces so far. these will be assembled into my final piece for shibori. i think i'll like it :)

my sweet pea forest. similar in appearance to bamboo. almost.

this was the biggest nasturtium on Wednesday.

this is all of the nasturtiums today (Friday). yeah. they're almost rivaling the sweet peas in vigor.

And I will probably continue to be mostly away for the next week or two. Just too much to do. I have to finish everything pretty much this weekend. And next week I will be preparing for my faculty review.

But, I have been alive and doing things. Between school and my little green babies, I've been busier than I would like. Only two more weeks! Yay!

And it's supposed to be 80 and sunny here today! I'm going to Ikea with Chelsea and Grace, then we're getting ice cream. Then, I'm coming back home to do more homework.

Hope you're having a super awesome Friday!

75

That's how warm it got today. It was amazing. I transplanted some of my sweet peas (ran out of containers) and I was HOT! Can you believe it?? I got a lot done this morning (swept the whole house, washed dishes, did laundry, ran a couple errands) and then Matt came over. We don't see each other enough, so it was really great to have him over for a while. He had to reshoot my environmental portrait b/c the other negatives got ruined :( But, it was fun and I think having a second go at it made this portrait even better! He gave me a polaroid of the shot without me, too. It's overexposed, but it has a cool color shift. I'll scan it in later and post it next.

I've been picking flowers and bringing them inside. Right now periwinkle and daffodils are blooming in front of my house. It's wonderful! The tulips will bloom soon, probably this week. Eric was the best boyfriend ever and ripped out a bunch of stuff in the backyard today. I'm so excited, I have a much better idea of my planting space now. And how little I have! Oh well. I think I can make it look great. I hope I can. If it's ugly... I've wasted a lot of time!

School is killing me right now, I'm so ready to be done. Only two more weeks, though. I'll be ok. I think I'll be there forever tomorrow, though! I'm excited about my final for shibori. I'll be doing a lot of dyeing for that tomorrow, so you'll see some great fabric.

Also, there are yard sales in Plymouth's Old Village tomorrow. Tons of them! Eric and I are so scouring them for anything awesome. I need a table and chairs desperately.

Sorry there are no photos in this post. I haven't uploaded them onto my computer yet. I promise I'll have a photo post tomorrow. Complete with the cutest photos of Gracie eating ice cream, my giant sweet peas, the glory that is my front yard, and more! Sounds like a commercial. Oh boy.

Till tomorrow!

P.S. Sorry I haven't been commenting on anything lately. I just don't have time that I can justify... I'm reading everything though :)

My little guy looks happy here on my desk.

P.S. This is my 200th post! Oh man, I can't believe it! I'll host a little giveaway this weekend, so stay tuned :)

green . house

The periwinkle vines in front of my house are starting to grow more buds. Probably because the blooms that are out already are so lonely.

I felt the need to buy flowers yesterday, so I went to the greenhouse closest to me. It's an independently run little place. They have some pretty cool obscure things sometimes. I got three little plants. They're so cute! Except the pink one dropped all of its flowers about 8 hours after I brought it home! What the heck?

Oh, Canadaaaa

The other day, I got the best apron in the mail. I traded with Solanah, from Etsy. I got her Canada apron and she got my wonderful birds toaster cover. I'm pretty excited! I love this apron. I really think it's hilarious and I can't wait to where it when I have someone over!

forever

That's how long it's been since I've been here. Sorry, folks. I've been so busy I haven't even had my mind on blogging. Not in a real sense, at least. I think, oh I should blog about this! And there's been tons of design inspiration in my German art history class, we're talking about the Bauhaus! Alas, time is a major concern for me right now, with only 4 weeks left in the semester. Yes, four. And we're supposed to get snow tonight. Seriously! I refuse to believe it.

On the school side of things, I've been working more on my quilting project, with the lilypads. I don't have very recent photos (from a few days ago), but I have a few of more stitching.

I also did a project for shibori with that crazy purple, green and blue fabric. I really like it.

I will probably continue to be pretty sporadic for the next month. I have a lot going on right now! I'm still reading your posts, even if I'm not commenting :)
