peony

i've never really cared much for peonies. i thought they were beautiful and smelled wonderful, but didn't really want to know more. this year, though, i find myself wondering. i wish there was a way for me to search all of literature (the good stuff) to find peony references. i can just imagine what people have had to say about their infinite intricacies, the layers upon layers of light, creamy petals. i also wondered what it looked like when they actually bloomed. well, i found it. this is a beautiful video, really a compilation of photographs.

I do like peonies...all sorts of flowers really though. Literary references of blooms definitely captivate me.

one of the girls at work and i came up with a great peony wedding dress plan.

the skirt will be all petal-like, the top plain and strapless, and then a simple necklace with a big round fuscia pinkish stone. yes. want want. im pretty sure i came home and found a picture posted by lilfishstudios of a peony necklace, it was really strange actually.

Rachel - I have to find some references! I have no idea how to search throughout literary history though...

Chels - That dress sounds awesome! Maybe someday when I'm awesome at sewing (hahaha) I'll make it for you.

Lisa - I remembered your post this weekend with the cashmere peony necklace. Maybe that influenced my temporary fascination?

Julia - Thanks! haha!
