The fog on Tuesday was incredible. Couldn't see anything!
Then it broke for a little bit. Can you see the fog up in the distance, though? It came back!
On the freeway, though, it all went away. Well, not away, it was suspended above the moving cars. I could see little clouds right above me!
I tied up rocks into a polyester sample. I hate polyester, but we had to try it. You boil it, then take the rocks out and poof! their impression stays in the fabric forever! Work with silk too. Though, in silk, you can't iron it really. I'm not sure if you can wash it. Maybe I should check.
Dark yellow dye bath. I like when you can see little glimpses of the fabric.
I accidentally took this picture with my camera on the metal table. I like it, I think. The light is cool at least!
That yellow scarf before I unfolded it. The white is where the clamp was. Neat, huh?
I'm calling the doctor today to find out about physical therapy. I need it. My hands aren't getting better and this week was so horrendous. Since Monday, every day has been horrible. I'm thinking about U of M. I would really like to find someone who would work with me on what kinds of things I have to do for my art and figure out how to make it hurt less. I don't know if people really do that though? We'll see...

Wow, the scarf turned out like that?! Cool!
Isn't that crazy?? I love shibori!
I love the first fog picture :)
Love fog. Beautiful pictures.
Polyester can turn out some really interesting designs though. I have some pieces where I used corks... the result was amazing. I think there is a photo in my flickr. I also did a piece using old cd's, such a fun and outrageous design.
The foggy pics are awesome.
I really hope your hand gets better and the doctor can help.
Matt - I like you.
C - Thank you! Yeah, the polyester manipulation is crazy! Have you tried it with silk? It's like the polyester, but pretty... and silk! Cds! What a great idea :)
Rebecca - Thanks :) I hope my hands get better too! Thank you for the nice words.
I don't recall why your hands are bothering you - so I'm not sure this would work. When I worked at P.T. office 17 years ago, we did a lot of paraffin wax baths on patients' hands. They'd be dipped about 10 times (like a candle), then we'd wrap their hands in towels and plastic bags - let them sit for about 10 mins - then the therapist would massage the heck out of their hands. Doesn't it sound like a spa treatment?
Hi Jan! I am in the snares of tendinitis. I'll ask my physical therapist about this tomorrow. She's calling me in the morning and talking to me! Oh man! I have a physical therapist. So excited. Thanks for the tip :) It sounds like when you go to a festival and they cast your hands in wax and make a candle. Haha!
Uh-oh, tendinitis sounds bad. It's a common problem among us musicians - if you want I could ask around a bit and see if any of my friends have some advise for you? What I know is that you should be extremely careful and not stress your hands! Hope you get well soon, because it looks like you're making some seriously lovely stuff!
Trudi =)
Hi Trudi! I'm starting physical therapy this week! That's basically all my family doctor told me: rest them as much as possible. Haha! Like I can :)
