twined. with feet. and hair. my little basket creature. really, i've just been unsure and lazy, but i like him and so i will keep him like this.

coiled. and lumpy-shaped. ignore that... i like working with this hemp yarn.

clamped. a silk scarf (yes, another. army, remember?). this one isn't finished. i'll be doing more, namely stitching. i think i'll trace the lines from the clamping and fill in the solid shapes, then pull those stitches tight and redye it in another color. should be interesting.

smocked. we have smocking machines at school. they're amazing. i'll take pictures of the contraption sometime. they're pretty cool. and so is this. i just embroidered a section of this very sample and i love it. deep plum. mmmm.

embroidery sample for obama. the colors from his poster. it was half an accident. but since it was jan. 21st, i rolled with it.

french knot sample. reminds me of a party. especially with the silver. love these colors.

Your basket creatures are really fun and quirky.
Haha, thanks Rebecca! He was an accident, but I might make more someday :)
love your baskets
I would like know how to make them
Okay, I love everything you blogged about today. I would also love to know how to make baskets. I do have a book on how to crochet little mini baskets, maybe I'll start there. And tie dye! I need to learn that, too. Maybe this summer, when I can do it outside...
Well, it sounds like I need to put together a basketry tutorial! I would do coiling first, because it's easier to portray/explain I think.
Also, Carlene, it's SHIBORI! Tie-dye is a bad name, because you think of rainbow hippie shirts, hahaha! And, really, no one wants to think of those :) You definitely want to do it outside, whether you're using something like RIT or real dyes. I can definitely do some tutorials of that stuff. That pretty much just means taking pictures while I do it. Thank you for your nice words, too :)
Oh I loved doing coiling work in school! And your dye samples - oh I miss those days!
loving all your recent creations! and great pics too! looks like you're having so much fun.
Diana - Feel free to live vicariously through me! haha :)
Suann - Thank you very much! It's nice to see you over here! And I'm glad you're back from vacation.
it's beautiful!
Thank you Marie-Louise!
