sunday

i love the tendrils

first smocked section, went into the blue bath

love the blue!

like fancy ruffles. but temporary.

oh man oh man ready for the dyebath almost!

I went to school and worked on my giant smocked piece that you've been looking at for years now. Sorry! I finished it today, so you'll only see it once more. I'm pretty happy with it, I think. Now quite as much contrast as I was hoping for, but I haven't seen it dry yet. Our next project in Shibori has these requirements: 1. 1-2 yards of fabric, 2. has to involve discharge. It can be pieced from many fabrics, we can dye the fabric as well as long there is also discharge. We can use any of the techniques we've learned so far. I'm thinking about doing a couple different pieces from the same fabric. Hmmm... We'll see. You'll see :)

I am so happy that I don't have to get up at 4:30am tomorrow. Sick of opening!

I can not type anymore, my hands will freeze up. I was informed today that I will become like an old woman and be able to feel pressure differences in the weather soon. I wonder if the stiffness in my hands this weekend and today is from the super cold we've had? I don't know.

When you go to Starbucks, what do you get? Or to the coffee shop if you don't get to Sbux. Just curious :) I'll start: grande (usually in my own travel mug) 140 degree, no water chai. I know, but it will burn my mouth!!

The yellow smocking in close up is Gorgeous!

I'm so sorry to hear about your hands, though. I have some "issues" myself, not with hands, but my whole body. I have started an "anti-inflammation" diet in hopes that I might deal with this pain naturally (I don't like taking drugs).

Starbucks...I don't go there very often, even though there's one only a block from our house. When I do, I order a tall Americano. I was so happy to learn that you could get something hotter than coffee (nothing burns my mouth)!

p.s. my word verification word is pricks!?

and you know what i get, and you know how i laugh at your 140 degree drinks. :)

Carlene - Thank you! I keep hearing about these crazy diets! Maybe you could shoot me a convo. or email with a few pointers? That would be so awesome. I hate taking drugs too, ew. Haha, something hotter than coffee!! It's not hotter if the coffee is super fresh, but otherwise it totally is. Ah, pricks!! Scary. That's how my wrist felt yesterday, haha!

Chels - I think you do need a curtain and I would like to make you one. What color and technique would you like, my dear? I laugh at my drink, too!

looking good! i am excited to see our stuff as it progresses more. how is your project coming for major studio? will i find out as i keep reading your blog's past entries? i haven't read it in more than a month. i'm a bad kid.

at the coffee shop i go to most, i like to get a dharma bum. it's earl grey and (soy)milk, with almond and vanilla syrup. starbucks makes something similar called a london fog, i believe. i'm also learning to make it at home, which is very exciting for my poor ass.

my hands have been bugging me, too, and i am hoping that as the weather gets warmer they get some relief. it just seems like every year the pain gets worse.

Haha, you'll find out a lot of things if you keep reading my blog's past entries! I put everything in here. Yeah, the London Fog is pretty much just like that. I really like it. It's super easy to make at home! Just brew the tea with half the water, then heat up your milk and add it. You could probably just put in a drop or two of vanilla extract to get the vanilla. See you tomorrow!
