I've been educated a lot in the past two days. Maybe that's why my hands haven't been working, my brain is too busy to bother with them. Anyway, I picked up this wonderful, amazing book from the school library called Blessed Unrest. Basically, it's about the myriad of groups, small and large, trying to bring environmental and social justice to our civilization. It argues that all of these different groups are actually part of the same movement. I've only read about 20 pages (and those pages were from two different chapters), but this book is really informative (I learned all about how terrible terrible terrible the World Trade Organization is today), inspiring and sad all at once.
I just watched this whole video, but you don't have to. Just take the time to watch the first 5 or 6 minutes. Please. You will do one or more of the following: drop your mouth in a huge O; get really really angry; cry; laugh out of disbelief; close the window because you just can't take it; watch the whole 22 minutes like I did because you couldn't look away.
Tell me what you think, will you?
Ten Americans
P.S. I'll post something beautiful and inspiring later today to shake you out of your gloom!

Hello Brittany,
Got here by a google alert on "Blessed Unrest" today.
Glad you found the book. It helped me understand things better too. When you finish it, don't forget to join WiserEarth.org who intends to help organize this world's largest movement.
Cheers,
